Uzbekistan will cancel import duties on goods from Saudi Arabia, Mongolia and 5 other countries
Until 2028, imported raw materials for the production of building materials will be exempt from duties.
On December 1, Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved measures to develop the construction materials industry in Uzbekistan. The presidential decree was published on Lex.uz.
The goal is to increase the annual production of construction materials to 62 trillion soums, exports to $1.5 billion. Particular attention will be paid to the production of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient materials, as well as monitoring their safety.
Imported raw materials for construction materials are exempt from customs duties until the beginning of 2028. The Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the World Trade Organization will approve the list of types of raw materials in 2 weeks.
By 2027, it is planned to abolish duties on goods from North African countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt), Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Mongolia. Bilateral mutual recognition of certificates of origin of products will be established.
In the production of construction materials, it is planned to launch new projects worth $3.5 billion. Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev, together with the khokimiyats and the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, must outline their summary parameters within a month.
Border troops have been instructed to ensure safe crossing of the Afghan border through the Termez checkpoint for representatives of Uzbek enterprises.
The export of ferrous metals and their rolled products is also simplified (HS 7210). They will not be considered goods for which export for foreign currency does not benefit from benefits without prepayment, letter of credit, bank guarantee or export contract insurance policy.
