Uzbekistan’s construction industry grew by 14.5% in January–May 2026.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The volume of construction works in Uzbekistan in January–May 2026 amounted to 104,943.7 billion soums at current prices, which is 14.5% more compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.The highest growth rates among the regions were recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan — 151.3%, Khorezm region — 132.4%, and Bukhara region — 126.2%. The largest absolute volume of construction works was concentrated in Tashkent — 28,025.2 billion soums, Tashkent region — 10,704.9 billion soums, and Fergana region — 6,874.8 billion soums.
By type of activity, the main share — 70.4% — was accounted for by the construction of buildings and structures, with a growth rate of 116.9%.
Civil engineering construction accounted for 20.1%, with growth of 14.0%. The share of specialized construction works amounted to 9.5%, while their volume remained almost unchanged compared to last year — 99.9%.
By type of enterprise, small enterprises and microfirms lead the sector: they account for 48.5% of the total volume of construction works — 50,847.5 billion soums, with a growth rate of 111.0%. Large construction organizations provided 26.1% of the volume — 27,399.8 billion soums, with growth of 21.5%. The informal sector accounted for 25.4% — 26,696.4 billion soums, with growth of 14.6%.
Among large construction organizations, the highest volumes of work were carried out in Tashkent — 9.6 trillion soums, Tashkent region — 2.9 trillion soums, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan — 1.9 trillion soums.
By form of ownership, the construction industry remains predominantly private: 97.9% of the volume of works falls on the non-state sector, and only 2.1% on the state sector.
