Private Kindergartens Will Start Operating in Apartment Buildings in Tashkent

In Tashkent, on the ground- and first floors of residential buildings that are meantime under construction, private children`s educational institutions are envisaged to be established. The land plots for construction of kindergartens will be also allocated to entrepreneurs.

The Khokim of Tashkent has adopted a resolution on improvement of the city’s preschool educational institutions’ activities.

According to this resolution, private kindergartens will be set up to operate on the ground- and first floors of the existing residential buildings and those currently under construction. It should be noted that 420 multistorey apartment houses are being constructed in Tashkent, in 220 of which entrepreneurs will set up kindergartens designed for 80 seats.

Those entrepreneurs who have expressed an intention to set up a preschool educational institution in the existing multistorey apartment buildings will also be granted the relevant authorization. The city administration thus intends to provide about five thousand children aged 3 to 6 with the pre-school education.

Furthermore, entrepreneurs will be at no charge allocated land plots and empty buildings for the construction of kindergartens. Such land area all over the city accounts for about 40 hectares. To obtain this, businessmen are supposed to apply to the relevant District Khokimiyat.

“That is just a pilot procedure. Previously, such procedure for land obtaining used to involve filing an application to the city administration which, in turn, would coordinate the matter with the Cabinet of Ministers. This long-running process would take up to several months. In order to speed it up, the regional khokims were empowered to make a decision, on their own responsibility, on the land allocation to the applying entrepreneurs,” said Asomiddin Tadjiev, the chief architect of Tashkent, in the course of the briefing.
