Tashkent`s population is projected to more than double by 2045 from the current 3.1 million. This requires the development of urbanization processes in proportion to the load on the housing stock, transport, logistics and engineering networks, as well as social infrastructure, the report notes.
The capital authorities reviewed 85 project proposals for construction with a total area of 2,679 hectares. Each project was assessed on the basis of a unified urban planning approach, the possibility of developing green areas on at least 30% of the territory, comprehensive renewal of outdated sites through renovation, and rejection of the practice of infill development on sites up to 1 hectare.
Based on the results of the review, it was proposed to allow the implementation of 18 projects, and to optimize 12 projects with changes to the area of land plots, number of floors and concept. 54 projects were identified as requiring a complete conceptual overhaul.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions for the development of urbanization processes in the capital in connection with public interests, the requirements of a healthy urban environment and environmental standards.
He pointed out that funds coming from infrastructure payments (paid to the city by developers) for ongoing projects should first of all be directed to the creation of new green areas, and the rest - to the construction of city infrastructure facilities.
Plans to expand the special industrial zone “Yangi Avlod” in the Yangikhayot district were separately considered.
The President emphasized the importance of the phased relocation of large industrial enterprises from the central part of Tashkent and the placement of high added value production facilities that meet environmental requirements.
