Some facilities in New Tashkent will open this year
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, after a meeting on problems in the fuel and energy industry, on Monday visited facilities under construction in New Tashkent. About thisreportedhis press office.
At the Directorate for the Construction of New Tashkent, the head of state was presented with information on the progress of work and further development plans.
Issues of harmonious development of transport and engineering infrastructure, interconnection of green zones and public spaces, as well as integration of New Tashkent with the existing territory of the capital were discussed, the report said.
The President emphasized the need to implement all projects “within the framework of a single urban planning concept, ensuring high quality and architectural harmony,” the press service noted.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the new campus of the Nizami National Pedagogical University. The final construction and finishing work is already underway in the buildings of the rector’s office and a number of faculties.
The campus will include academic buildings, scientific laboratories, an information and resource center, an electronic library, student dormitories, sports and cultural facilities.
Next, the head of state got acquainted with the construction of a new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan. The facility is considered as one of the key scientific and educational centers of the new city. It should become “a modern center combining reading, scientific research and cultural and educational communication.”
It is reported that construction and finishing work in the complex has been completed by 90%. The library is scheduled to be put into operation this year.
It will include high-tech premises for storage, accounting, security and disinfection of book collections. There will be a café with 300 seats, a gallery, sports areas and recreational spaces.
A four-story building with a total area of over 30 thousand square meters. m will be able to simultaneously serve 1420 readers. A special educational and research environment is being created for the blind.
The next point of visit was the campus of the New Uzbekistan University. Built on an area of 50 hectares, the complex is designed for 10 thousand students. Along with the buildings of the faculties and the rector`s office, there will be a library, a museum, exhibition and multimedia halls, a sports complex, a swimming pool and student dormitories.
“The new campus places particular emphasis on creating a seamless environment that integrates education, research, innovation and student life,” the statement said.
The President also inspected the construction of a modern football stadium. It will be the main venue for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The semi-final and final matches of the tournament are planned to be held here.
Construction of the arena, designed for 55 thousand spectators, began in November 2025. The six-story sports complex is being built in accordance with FIFA requirements. To date, 65% of the work has been completed.
More than 10 escalators will be installed to move spectators. The stadium will be equipped with three training fields and a parking lot for 5,500 spaces. A metro station will be built next to the arena. It should also be harmoniously integrated with the city`s transport system.
The project pays special attention to the principles of green energy, smart management and environmental sustainability, the presidential press service reported.
