An industrial zone for the production of construction materials for a nuclear power plant will be created in the Farish district on 200 hectares

As Spot previously wrote, on September 2 Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with a presentation dedicated to the progress of construction of an integrated nuclear power plant and a satellite town in Jizzakh region.

The Director of the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers (“Uzatom”), Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, said in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel that the president instructed that the creation of a specialized industrial zone for the production of construction materials for the nuclear industry be worked out. The initiative is based on the study of foreign experience.

According to Akhmedkhadjaev, training personnel for the NPP project needs to begin now, despite the fact that technical work will start later. At present, 215 MEPhI graduates are involved in the project, and some specialists are planned to be sent to foreign sites to gain practical experience.

Special attention was paid to localization. Its level in the project is currently 20−21%, while the president instructed that the figure be raised to at least 30%.

“The president studied every area we are currently working on, and a whole range of instructions was given for each area,” the head of Uzatom summarized.

The day before, it became known about a proposal to create a 200-hectare industrial zone in Farish district specializing in the production of construction materials. It is planned to place at least 100 joint ventures there and localize the production of products in 15 areas through technology transfer.

Earlier, Spot wrote that Mirziyoyev instructed that the share of Uzbek products in the $9.5 billion NPP project be increased to 30%.
